More than just a course
Each unit is unique to an aspect of the sports sector drawing on different skills and knowledge to provide evidence of practical competence and academic understanding. You can follow us on Twitter @SportMarple to see what we get up to in lessons.
In your first year, you will study the core units that are necessary for success in the sports industry; you will gain knowledge of how the body systems respond to exercise, how to plan and lead a coaching session, how to do a health screening consultation and more.
In your second year, you will study more advanced units which will build on your existing knowledge and explore more aspects of sport, such as analysing the performance of an athlete or team, writing diet plans for clients, and organising sporting events at local primary schools. In addition to this, you will undertake a two-week work placement within the sports industry which has the potential to lead onto paid employment.
You can also choose to undertake the FA Level 1 Coaching qualification (including Child Protection and Emergency First Aid) and the Level 2 Award in Leadership through Football qualification alongside the BTEC Sport course, allowing you to develop your coaching and leaderships skills even further.
