Redevelopment of Marple Sixth Form College
Marple Sixth Form College is pleased to announce the confirmation of final planning permission from Stockport Council Planning & Highways Committee for the sale of the Hibbert Lane site to Morris Homes.
Proceeds from the sale will allow the college to go ahead with the multi-million pound investment in new and refurbished facilities on our Buxton Lane campus in Marple.
Work will begin in August to transfer all teaching provision to Buxton Lane creating, by the summer of 2016, an exciting teaching and learning facility encompassing all of Marple Sixth Form College’s curriculum offer on one site. The foundations for the brand new Sports Hall will be laid in August, whereas the wholescale refurbishment of the Buxton Lane site will start in October.
Complete with changing rooms and office space, the new Sports Hall will make a valuable contribution to the success of future sportsmen and sportswomen whilst they study and train at Marple Sixth Form College. The refurbishment of the Buxton Lane building will see the creation of a high-tech teaching and learning centre for all subjects including brand new facilities for Art and Science.
Alongside these exciting plans will be the development of a new Learning and Resource Centre and an extended and refurbished refectory. All of the work will be completed in August 2016.
“Marple Sixth Form College continues to go from strength to strength. This investment in Marple and our continually improving exam results further support our vision to create a unique and high achieving college.”
